How To Receive

Details on how to apply

Diagnostic laboratory tests

  1. Request a primary care provider order a COVID-19 test.

  2. Complete the test in the provider's office or take the order to a hospital, laboratory, pharmacy, or clinic for completion.

Monoclonal antibody treatments and products

  1. Have a positive COVID-19 test and mild to moderate symptoms.

  2. Request a provider order for monoclonal antibody treatment.

  3. Arrange for treatment at a Medicare-certified provider or supplier.

  4. Complete the treatment and any recommended follow-ups.

- OR -

  1. If your loved one has not tested positive for COVID-19 or does not have symptoms but does have a weakened immune system, talk with their provider about whether preventive monoclonal antibody treatment is right for them.

  2. If so, obtain a provider order for monoclonal antibody treatment.

  3. Arrange for treatment at a Medicare-certified provider or supplier.

  4. Complete the treatment and any recommended follow-ups.

Diagnostic laboratory tests

FDA-authorized tests to check for COVID-19. There is no cost if a healthcare provider orders a test and the test is performed by a hospital, laboratory, pharmacy, clinic, or provider's office. Home test kits are not covered by Medicare.

Monoclonal antibody treatments and products

FDA-authorized treatments can help fight the disease and keep your loved one out of the hospital if they test positive for COVID-19 and have mild to moderate symptoms. Medicare covers monoclonal antibody treatments if your loved one has COVID-19 symptoms.

Certain monoclonal antibody products can also protect people before they are exposed to COVID-19. If your loved one has Part B and their provider decides this type of product could work for them (such as if they have a weakened immune system), then there is no cost for treatment from a Medicare provider or supplier, though your loved one must meet certain conditions to qualify.
